Here is what I have been up to since our last newsletter:
There are 20 new videos about Cypress on my YouTube Cypress Channel Most are short and answer just a single question, but there are a few longer ones, like “Write E2E Tests Using Cypress And Run Them On GitHub Actions”.
My blog glebbahmutov.com/blog has 9 new blog posts about Cypress. Here are some of the most interesting ones:
Many people struggle to understand how Cypress queues its commands before running them, so I wrote the plugin cypress-command-chain to visualize this process. Read the blog post Visualize Cypress Command Queue.
At MercariUS we heavily use LaunchDarkly to feature flag code. I wrote the plugin cypress-ld-control to Control LaunchDarkly From Cypress Tests.
Often I hear a question “Can Cypress be used to collect the performance metrics?” Take a look at the Cypress Lighthouse audit plugin, here is my introduction in the post “Cypress Lighthouse Example”.
Bonus: do you think people would understand Cypress better if the cy.then command was called cy.later? I think so! You can rename the command following my blog post “Replace The cy.then Command”.
Learning resources
For people trying to learn Cypress, I have added reference links to my list of Cypress Skills described in “Cypress Skills Ladder”. Tip: use the interactive form at cypress.tips/skills to see where you are in your studies.
Recently I have taught my open-source Cypress workshop bahmutov/cypress-workshop-basics at ConFoo.CA conference. Here are some of the quotes the attendees wrote after the workshop.
The workshop is in-depth, concise and does not lack in content or expertise.
The Cypress expert workshop
My next scheduled Cypress workshop is still a long time away (end of August at ng-conf) but I highly recommend you attend my friend Filip Hric’s Cypress Core Workshop that starts at the end of March 2022.
Help Ukraine
The lives of many millions of Ukrainian people have been brutally disrupted by the Russian invasion. If you can help, please donate money to fight the occupants and help the displaced people.
Talks
Recently, I have joined Joyce Lin from Postman for a joint webinar. If you want to learn how to write API and UI tests and run them on CircleCI, watch the recording on YouTube here or below:
My next talk will be at the end of March and it will be fun: playing Wordle using Cypress (see bahmutov/cypress-wordle repo). Join me on March 29th for “Cypress is a GREAT Wordle player” meetup https://www.meetup.com/angularDC/events/284369941/
