Testing The Swag Store

I am happy to announce the launch of my new Cypress.io course targeted at students who want to become Cypress experts but have zero or very little automation testing experience. The course is hands-on, and every lesson has starting code, detailed instructions, and my solution. Plus every lesson has a video showing me coding the solution and explaining how it works. I even record a launch video you can watch below:

Find the new course at https://cypress.tips/courses/swag-store and if you have ideas for new lessons (you don’t even need to be a current student), open an issue at https://github.com/bahmutov/cypress-courses.

ConFoo conference

The end of February was a joy. I went with my family to Montreal, Canada to attend the ConFoo conference. Taught a Cypress workshop (the most popular rating in my feedback survey was 5 ⭐️ out of 5), presented at the Montreal Software Crafters meetup, and made two presentations at the conference. Here is a photo from my “Learn Cypress Component Testing By Playing Sudoku” presentation, it was happy times

Happy people because they just learned Cypress component testing.

Find the presentation slide decks below:

  • The State Of JavaScript Testing

  • Learn About Node's New Built-in Test Runner

  • Learn Cypress React component testing by playing Sudoku

My next conference presentation will be on March 17th in Amherst, Massachusetts at NERD Summit. I will speak about the Node test runner (it will be marked stable in Node v20!)

New blog posts

Every week I have to write more blog posts because things happen and I want to remember how I made something work (or broke). Here are my new Cypress blog posts since the last February newsletter.

  • Debug Cypress Commands cy.get And cy.contains

  • Test Child Window Closed Scenario

  • Crawl Weather Using Cypress

  • Split React Native Web Component Tests For Free

  • Trigger Selected Cypress Specs Using GitHub Actions

  • Minimize Mailosaur Use

Your Testing Questions Answered

I had the honor of participating in the PodRocket podcast together with Debbie O’Brien and Kent C. Dodds where we answered questions about testing. Find my summary blog post at “Your Testing Questions Answered” and the full podcast recording here.

New Cypress videos

My Cypress Tips & Tricks YouTube playlist keeps growing. I won’t bore you with another list, but every video description has been crawled into an Algolia index, and you can find answers to your Cypress questions by searching at https://cypress.tips/search. The scraper is similar to my blog posts scraper described in “Incremental Blog Scraping”.

What is important to me is to cross the 5k subscribers 📈. Not for the money, as you can see 😂 but for respect from my son. The new generation only cares about YouTubers, this will show him I am there riding the wave 😉

Subscribing helps you get the newly published videos immediately, especially since I delay by 24 hours posting any new professional news on my Twitter account @bahmutov, just to keep musk frustrated.
